I’m at Season Coffee in Redditch for the first time.
As I rocked up to park my car, I noticed that…I couldn’t find a space! It was chockablock with cars everywhere at 8:45am. I drove around the area for ages. I drove up one street and…ah! As one would imagine, they had a school nearby. Loads of parents dropping off their kids in the morning. I obviously should have known better. Well, I’ve learnt something…better to go a little later. Eventually, I luckily found a space just in front of the shop.

So I walk, and the first thing I feel is the warmth of the place. Something tells me I’m going to expect good vibes. I was greeted by some friendly staff, and I ordered a flat white and a cinnamon bun as a safe bet. Turned out they tasted pretty good!
I sat there, and a song came on which I really like by Fontaines D.C., ‘Favourite’. It made me think of the times when I was young, playing in rock bands, being on stage, and really having a good time. Living life all young, dumb and full of ambition. They played nice tunes at the cafe and suited the vibe of the place – not too overbearingly loud.
I took my Kindle e-book and read a few pages. There were some plug sockets by the wall, which were useful for remote workers using their laptops. I could see myself doing a bit of work here.
No waffles on the menu. Waffles were actually invented in Greece and were known as flat cakes. They were then popularised in Belgium and France (why did I keep thinking they were an American thing? That must be pancakes?) Anyway, I felt a bit awkward asking. I looked at the menu and assumed they didn’t have it, but maybe they made them secretly. You won’t know if you don’t ask. Maybe next time.
It’ll take some getting used to doing this blog thing. I feel like I’m being a reviewer, which I’m not aiming to do. It’s just me, talking about what I was thinking and doing in the coffee shop in that moment.
Anyway, until next time.
