Reading at Forrest in Kenilworth.

Forrest Coffee Instagram Reels

It’s 11am, and I’m in a very busy coffee shop in Kenilworth called Forrest.

I was in this town reading for a play at one of the local theatres. I thought I would kill some time since I was early and popped into a coffee shop with good reviews. It was a Sunday morning, and the place was popular.

The coffee was on point, but it’s a shame there were no waffles. I felt a little awkward about asking, as they weren’t on the menu. As if they would be making and serving them secretly. Ha!

Anxiety levels were low here. Everyone was locked into their conversations; there were lots of people about, but I was unnoticed. I could have been a statue that no one cared about, sitting in the corner of the room.

My mind was wandering, and I started noticing lots of guys who looked like they went to the gym often, which made me think about the last time I signed up for the gym and only went once, then quit. I went early in the morning, about 5am, one time, thinking it would be empty. Boy, was I wrong! The place was rammed. It seemed full of CEOs and marketers, just from my guessing (I assume CEOs and marketers because I always picture them as highly driven people).

The vibe here was nice; it reminded me of being in London, not the town itself, but the coffee shop. As I walked in, I had this feeling of being somewhere buzzing with life and vibration. There was a board with pictures of people’s dogs, which they welcomed in the store. Seemed like there was a bit of community here. It felt like people who didn’t know each other would strike up conversations as if they did. Maybe they did know each other.
